These are great. Makes me consider making something for Niv Lova. Terrain is always something I struggle coming up with something if there's an encounter and no POI.
Thank you! It might be cool for Niv Lova for sure. You may not even have to go this in-depth with it. Maybe a biome map or a description of a few regions with some general terrain types.
Thanks! I may do that. I love oracles and build them constantly for personal use. Probably should release my stash as a compendium. I'll keep you updated.
Very cool idea and much more expedient than asking yes/no questions, especially on days when the player(me)'s brain is fried. I'll be saving these for my eventual Kal-Arath playthrough!
Thanks! Yeah, I understand that feeling. I took a couple of those days when I had some brainpower to do a favor for my future brainfried self...and whoever else I could help out.
The best part of a resource like this is that you can use it when you want. I like to rush into some fights/encounters and other times using resources like this can add so much flavor and dynamics.
Thank you! And agreed. I've made a bunch of oracles that I use for combat, storybuilding, NPC generation, etc. Some are setting- or genre-specific, but I like using these because they are used for most games (outside of sci-fi or very weird settings).
Pretty cool for solo play too, especially if you journal or write up your combat encounters.
Wow great idea! I think when we roll random encounters a lot of us forget about the terrain and just focus on the monsters and their reaction rolls and forget about how interesting the tactical advantages of certain terrain can be!

nice tables! I'm going to print these out when I have a chance.
Thanks! Hope you find them useful. Let me know how they work for you.
Yeah I’m gonna need your solo book of tables to get released this year or something. You cooking on these!!
Maybe we could purchase something on itch.io that you keep updated and we could continue to donate/support

Interesting....going to give that phrase some thought.

Thankfully, Substack is equipped with the Archive feature. This post cries out for it like the wind on the Oklahoma panhandle.
Thank you!

I used these at my table yesterday. They turned "plinking" into dynamic combat. These rules are going to be a thing at my table.
Righteous! Glad you and your group enjoyed them. They've really boosted my combat play.
You def need to sell some oracles on Itch! These ones are really awesome!
I have an idea for a larger oracle set. Glad you like them!

Agreed and thank you! Adding some environmental elements creates opportunities for more tactical play in what could be a rather hum drum encounter.
Great tables. I will have to test them out when I can.
I appreciate that! Hope they add to your gaming experience!
You're welcome. I think they will.
These are some great tables. They make a seemingly bland terrain dynamic. I will use these for sure.
Thanks! Let me know how it goes.
